Welcome to Thriving Kids Massey

Your Early Childhood Education Centre

Our Philosophy

We acknowledge the importance of being interconnected with our local community. We endeavour to work collaboratively with Whanaungatanga (tamariki, parents, caregivers, extended whānau, kaiako, outside communities) to ensure a high quality of Ako is provided. We acknowledge that tamariki bring funds of knowledge to build upon our existing kete. We support Te Tiriti o Waitangi and work towards upholding this through our concepts of Te Ao Māori.

We are fully committed to ensuring that all tamariki are empowered to learn to their greatest potential, building firm foundations for life long learners. This enables our tamariki to grow and develop into successful 21st century citizens.

Kotahitanga is a core value at Thriving Kids Massey where we celebrate diversity and recognise differences. We are a multicultural learning environment where all whānau and tamariki from all cultures feel they belong.

We encourage the use of open ended questions to develop and further extend critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

We aim to create safe, yet challenging, inviting and positive learning environments thus reflecting a rich curriculum for all. We adopt a holistic approach to learning where tamariki know they have a place. Hauora of all tamariki is enhanced by encouraging safe risk taking, promoting social emotional and self-regulation skills and provoking curiosity while encouraging creativity and innovation. We ensure these are catered to through rich reciprocal relationships.

Our care moments are an important part of building relationships with all of our tamariki. These moments are both respectful, responsive and actively encourage tamariki to engage in all areas of learning. We strive to act responsibly about the concept of sustainability and share with all our tamariki the effect of what we do as consumers and the flow on effect this has on our environment locally and globally.

We strongly āwhina the growth of each kaiako through mentorships and professional learning development. Manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, ako and kotahitanga as well as Te Whāriki underpin our practices working together through interconnectedness with tamariki, whānau and the community around us.
